Very organised service with bags being well looked after. Shaded waiting area in Padang Bai with free wifi and toilet. Luggage loaded onto boat for you and avoids queues of people waiting for their boats. Safety brief on boat, free water and mints. It can be quite a rough crossing and several people felt sea sick - recommend the free sea sickness tablets at check in. They definitely work and we felt fine! Gili T has sheltered and organised check in and avoids the chaos on the jetty. Walk straight onto boat once is had arrived and bags had already been loaded. Went up on deck for second half or journey from Gilis back to Serangan. Saw several pods of dolphins playing in the surf. On arrival in Serangan very organised transfers pre arranged and bags loaded before being taken to hotel. 10/10 would recommend. Very smooth service and very helpful crew.
Great service at a price. Chose this if you want certainty or are pressed for time. PROS - prebooking and payment available - pickup from hotel included - staff at office spoke good english for check in and information - boarding was arranged 1/2 hour before scheduled departure, so everytime was on time - easy to communicate via WhatsApp - windows in the hull, good for sea sickness (but no aircon) - water, candies provided on board - safety video before departure (if you care about these things) CONS - expensive
We had a great experience with Bluewater Express. Unfortunately the night before we were due to have our transfer, we both got food poisoning and couldn’t travel. Bluewater were responsive and kindly arranged for our ticket to be transferred to the following day with no issues which we really appreciated. The journey itself was smooth - we loved sitting on the top deck and the car that collected us was on time, clean and comfortable. Would highly recommend!
We used Bluewater Express to travel to and from Gili Air. I was a little bit hesitant to undertake this journey, as I had read a lot of horror stories online about the Lombok crossing, and so I was keen to book with Bluewater given their impressive safety record. I am pleased to say, from our initial pick up to drop off, I had a really great experience. At no point did I (a complete layperson when it comes to sea crossing) feel unsafe - the crew were very careful to only allow us onto the roof deck when it was safe to do so. We were lucky that the water was not particularly choppy, but had it been, I would have felt safe in the competent hands of the Bluewater crew. I actually really enjoyed the boat journey, as we were able to sit on the roof deck for the majority of it - and so it was more like a pleasant boat journey, rather than a mode of transportation. Bluewater is certainly an expensive option, but the cost is worthwhile paying in order to enjoy a pleasant experience that you feel safe understanding.
There was delays (30 mins one way and 1 hour the other) and the aircon only partially worked in the boat however you didn’t have to wait on the hot wharf they sorted your bags and called you down when needed. Seemed much better to the other crowds waiting on the wharf in the sun for their late boats.
